Last month, I had the incredible opportunity to embark on a golf trip to South Africa’s Garden Route. Known for its stunning beauty, diverse wildlife, and world-class golf courses, the Garden Route is a must-visit destination for any golf enthusiast.
Our journey began in Cape Town, where we spent a few days exploring the city’s iconic landmarks such as Table Mountain, Robben Island, and the V&A Waterfront. We also had the chance to play a round of golf at the renowned Royal Cape Golf Club, which provided a challenging yet scenic experience.
From Cape Town, we drove along the Garden Route, a stretch of coastline that boasts some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world. Our first stop was in George, where we played at the Fancourt Golf Estate. The estate is home to three championship courses, each with its own unique layout and challenges. We spent the day playing the Montagu course, which winds through lush forests and rolling hills, providing a truly memorable golfing experience.
Next, we traveled to Knysna, a charming town nestled along a picturesque lagoon. Here, we played at the Simola Golf & Country Estate, a Jack Nicklaus signature course that offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and ocean. The course provided a challenging test of our golf skills, with plenty of water hazards and bunkers to navigate.
Our final stop on the Garden Route was in Plettenberg Bay, where we played at the Pinnacle Point Beach & Golf Resort. Situated atop rugged cliffs overlooking the Indian Ocean, the course offers stunning ocean views and dramatic elevation changes. It was a truly awe-inspiring setting for a round of golf.
Overall, our golf trip to South Africa’s Garden Route was an unforgettable experience. The combination of world-class golf courses, stunning natural beauty, and warm hospitality made for a truly memorable journey. I can’t wait to return to this enchanting destination and explore more of what it has to offer.
