Spain is known for its beautiful beaches, delicious food, and vibrant culture. But did you know that it’s also a fantastic destination for golf enthusiasts? My recent trip to the southern coast of Spain, specifically between Sotogrande and Estepona, was a golf lover’s dream come true.
Sotogrande is a prestigious coastal resort town that is home to several world-class golf courses. One of the highlights of our trip was playing at the famous Valderrama Golf Club, which has hosted numerous international tournaments including the Ryder Cup. The course is challenging yet breathtakingly beautiful, with views of the Mediterranean Sea and lush green fairways lined with cork trees and wildflowers.
After a round of golf at Valderrama, we indulged in some tapas and local wine at one of the many charming restaurants in Sotogrande. The town has a relaxed and upscale vibe, and we enjoyed strolling around the marina and admiring the luxury yachts.
From Sotogrande, we made our way to Estepona, another gem on the Costa del Sol. Estepona is a more traditional Spanish town with a picturesque old town and a laid-back atmosphere. The golf courses in Estepona are just as impressive as those in Sotogrande, with several options to choose from depending on your skill level.
One of the highlights of our time in Estepona was playing at Finca Cortesin Golf Club, a challenging course that winds through olive groves and offers stunning views of the surrounding hills. The course is known for its immaculate conditioning and top-notch facilities, including a luxurious clubhouse and spa.
In between rounds of golf, we took the time to explore the charming streets of Estepona, stopping for a coffee in a quaint plaza and browsing the local shops. We also made sure to sample some of the delicious fresh seafood that the region is famous for, indulging in paella and grilled sardines at a beachfront restaurant.
Overall, our golf trip to Spain between Sotogrande and Estepona was a fantastic experience. The combination of top-tier golf courses, beautiful scenery, and delicious food made for a memorable vacation. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or a beginner looking to improve your game, this region of Spain has something to offer for everyone. I can’t wait to plan my next golf trip to this stunning destination.
